To-date in 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £914,220 in grants to 16 organisations, supporting more than 400,000 people in need.
Last year we awarded 74 grants, totalling over £2.9m to 56 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Merchant Navy Welfare Board
Grant funding awarded to the UK Port Welfare Vehicle Replacement Project - an ongoing programme that ensures a vehicle replacement scheme for welfare organisations supporting seafarers around the coast of the UK.
Amount awarded: £31,000
Fighting With Pride
Grant funding awarded to support the work of UK's only LGBT+ Armed Forces charity which in two years has enabled remarkable change as a champion of a uniquely isolated group of veterans.

The Humber Seafarers' Service
Grant funding to support staff salaries for five months to ensure that Humber Seafarer' Centre is able to reopen to seafarers who need respite from their vessels, but are not so keen to venture out of the port during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aberdeen Seafarer's Centre
Grant funding for a Chaplain's salary for one year to support the offshore oil industry and seafarer job losses that have been impacted by the decline in the price of oil and COVID-19.

Mission to Seafarers
Contribution funding to develop The Mission to Seafarers App, estimated to reach 35,000 seafarers internationally, to enable seafarers to the Chat to a Chaplain service, and many other welfare services while at sea or on land.

Age UK
Continued provision of much-needed telephone friendship group 'Seafarers Link', aimed at helping to reduce loneliness and isolation, and enhancing relationships and social interaction with other seafarers and their communities.
