To-date in 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £914,220 in grants to 16 organisations, supporting more than 400,000 people in need.
Last year we awarded 74 grants, totalling over £2.9m to 56 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Felixstowe & Haven Ports Seafarers Service
Financial support to cover shortfall caused by COVID-19 restricting access to shore leave and visits to the seafarer centre, thereby reducing Centre's ability to generate income from sales.

Mission to Seafarers
A grant awarded by the Seafarers International Relief Fund to provide food including rice, dhal, oil and fruit and vegetables plus herbal medicine, hand sanitiser and other PPE equipment for seafarers in Thoothukkudi (Tuticorin), India.

Scottish Nautical Welfare Society
Grant funding to support regular quarterly grant payments to 53 older merchant and fishing beneficiaries in Scotland, plus a contribution towards core costs.

Mission to Seafarers
Grant funding to support Mission to Seafarers to help respond to abandonment and human rights cases in United Arab Emirates as part of their Advocacy and Social Justice work.

Fishing into the Future
Grant funding for core costs to support the salary of a full-time programme manager to develop and lead activities to engage local fishers in the science of fishing and the co-management of fisheries to improve their financial resilience.
