To-date in 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £914,220 in grants to 16 organisations, supporting more than 400,000 people in need.
Last year we awarded 74 grants, totalling over £2.9m to 56 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust
Grant funding for COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant Programme which is a match funding project, led by Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust which aims to alleviate and respond to some of the current, immediate challenges faced by the seafood sector across the UK.
Amount awarded: £250,000
Seafarers Hospital Society
Grant funding to support the UK Maritime Anchor Fund. The fund has been developed for seafarers living and working in the UK who have been impacted by COVID-19. The Fund provides one-off emergency grants, advice from on financial resilience, free relationship counselling and mental health support.

Fishermen's Mission
Grant funding to support the Fishermen's Mission Superintendents to award individual hardship grants to fishers financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Amount awarded: £195,000
Nautilus Welfare Fund
Grant funding for care home top-up fees of mariners, who rely on Local Authority Funding to receive residential or nursing care at Mariners' Park Care Home. The grant will also provide funding for a part-time physiotherapy post.

Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau Limited
Grant funding to support the Seafarers Advice & Information Line to provide a free telephone service to merchant seafarers and UK fishers within the framework and management of Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau.
Amount awarded: £158,359
International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network
Grant funding for SeafarerHelp: a free international multilingual helpline for seafarers and their families, and additional funding to assist the COVID-19 response via a top-up of the Seafarers' Emergency Fund.
