To-date in 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £914,220 in grants to 16 organisations, supporting more than 400,000 people in need.
Last year we awarded 74 grants, totalling over £2.9m to 56 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Sailors' Society
Funding support for the Crisis Response Network, a free global service supporting seafarers and their families during traumatic incidents such as piracy, abandonment and natural disasters.
Amount awarded: £120,000
Mission to Seafarers
Grant funding to support Mission to Seafarers to help respond to abandonment and human rights cases in United Arab Emirates as part of their Advocacy and Social Justice work.

UK Women in Fisheries CIC
Grant to support the establishment of a UK-wide network body for women in UK fisheries. Funding will support co-ordination and promotion of the network and delivery of a programme of topic-led meetings.
Amount awarded: £27,000
Maritime Charities Group - Nautilus Welfare Fund
Co-funding of a new six-month research project by the Seafarers International Research Centre, Cardiff University, into the port-based welfare needs of women seafarers.

Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust
To fund a 0.4 FTE Project Manager post to support the development, collaboration and evidence gathering needed to inform a Fairness in Fishing Campaign which aims to reduce labour exploitation in UK fisheries and make it more attractive to new recruits

Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust
To produce an influential report for policy and decision-makers that collates the views of the fishing industry from around the UK, regarding how Brexit has affected them and how they can be better supported.
